Your Dream Geek Tour: What Would it Be?

July 30th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Geek Tours

This blog is dedicated to all of those who absolutely must know how the magic happens! I have always loved visiting factories and command centers and any setting where big machines do their work either through brawn or “brain” (or both.) What would you like to see?

I would like to organize tours for inquisitive and geeky Montrealers like me. Let’s go behind the scenes and discuss the science and technology that make our city work and thrive. We are not your average tourists so we’ll request tours from chief engineers, architects and other geeks who live big tech on a daily basis and use big words! Our goal is to see the technology in action and understand how and why it was built that way and how it is maintained.

And don’t think that Montreal is our only option, think Vegas baby… Well, maybe this year we can concentrate on Montreal and as our cult grows star exploring the rest of Quebec and go beyond.

I have created a poll to ask you what type of place you would like to visit. These are very broad suggestions as I will select the first place to visit based on:

- Your interest in the type venue
- How receptive the venue is to welcoming geeks and tailoring a very technical presentation with appropriate professionals.

Remember our goal is to visit behind the scenes at seldom seen places with people who just about never give presentations so appropriate lead time must be given.

But if you care to be specific and want to offer your help (because you have contacts) please use the comments section.

Thanks!

Help Hank Choose Some Glasses

Okay I realize this is not an essay question but since it was posed by one of the planets sexier nerds, I will answer it here.

Hank Green asks his viewers and fans, commonly known as nerdfighters, to help him pick out some new glasses. Here I give my opinion.

Yes, very much. Modern, not too much rims as long as there is not too much stuff written (branded) on the side but it still feels like you are wearing someone else’s glasses.

Also good, but soooo 2003.

Actually fun but you should never own a pair of loud sunglasses as your main pair only as a second pair.

A little bolder but sooo 2004.

Safe choice, the mostly rimless, for all those who are not fugly.

The bottom of these seems to fall at exactly the right place in your face.

So in my opinion choose the glasses that seem to already be yours when you look into the mirror (but not exactly like the one that used to be yours LOL)

Even better, choose the ones that your girlfriend likes the most. She is the one who sees you mug everyday and her initial first choice is likely to be your best bet.
